Create New LMN

Updated by Steven Garand

It is good practice to specify a descriptive name for the LMN instead of using the default name of 'LMN' to help avoid confusion when downloading and sending the LMN files.
Click 'Yes' when 'Open LMN?' prompt shown to edit the template generated LMN.
A folder named 'LMN' is automatically generated under the current order folder and the new LMN file is created in rich text format with a '.rtf' extension. The rtf format can be opened in most word programs including Microsoft Word.
Make sure to click on File then Save after editing the LMN.
In most cases, the ATP can not legally create an LMN for direct submission to an insurance company. The LMN is a suggestion to the physician. Since the LMN is a word document, the physician could potentially edit and must sign the final document.
