Offline (Remote) Overview

Updated by Steven Garand

Do not use the offline feature if an internet connection is available.
Chrome users should have "Cookies and other site data" box unchecked before setting up the Offline database. This box is found under chrome://settings/clearBrowserData. Failure to uncheck this setting will remove the offline feature including any offline changes.
Limited functionality is available in RxWeb without an internet connection (offline). See limitations below.
The offline option must first be created, it is not available by default.
The offline feature has 3 basic components, use of the feature (service worker), required data (local encrypted database and files of selected orders, selected forms, patients, physicians, ICD10 codes, etc.), and data changes (changes made while offline).
Each of the 3 basic offline components can be deleted separately but must be done in a specific order. Data changes must not exist when deleting required data and required data must not exist when deleting use of the feature.
Sensitive required data and data changes are encrypted (requires a password) on the local computer using the strongest current encryption method available (256 Bit).
Only selected orders, data forms, and order forms, previously selected when online, are available when offline.
Logging in to RxWeb when connected to the internet will automatically prompt to upload any offline changes.
After uploading any offline changes, no orders are selected for offline use anymore. Any orders required for the next offline session would have to be selected again.
Be sure to click on Save button or Check in each offline window to save information. X button is to close without saving.
Selected order forms for offline use are not automatically updated when the order form is updated for online users. The updated order form must be manually selected again to provide the updated order form when offline. A convenient filter (upper left Old button) is available to view all selected offline order forms that have updates available.
Only one user can operate the same computer offline.  Multiple users going offline on the same computer is not supported.
The user should remove the offline feature (offline database) if not used for an extended period (roughly one month). Apple and other manufacturers of tablets may remove the database without warning if the offline feature is not used after an extended period of time.

Actions

  1. Before Going Offline:
    1. Update Offline Password: The offline password can be changed. The offline feature including all offline data must be deleted before the password can be changed. User is responsible for safely saving the new password. If the new password is forgotten or lost, any offline changes will be lost and can not synch to the server.
    2. Create Offline Option: Generate the offline option feature and downloads the data from the server required for offline use - Without this first step, no offline features are available.
    3. Select Orders Available Offline: Any existing order on the server must be selected as available offline while the computer is still online (has an internet connection). Downloads the related files required for offline use.
    4. Select Data Forms Available Offline: Any data form must be selected as available offline while the computer is still online (has an internet connection). Downloads the related files required for offline use.
    5. Select Order Forms Available Offline: Any order form must be selected as available offline while the computer is still online (has an internet connection). Downloads the related files required for offline use.
  2. While Offline:
    1. Open Offline Feature: Make sure you do not have an internet connection. Use the following URL to use the offline feature: https://rx.artscoinc.com/RxWebV2/Pages/Offline/Index.html
    2. Open Existing Order: Open an existing order, selected as available offline, or previously created offline.
    3. Create New Order: Create a new order offline. The Basic Info window is opened. The patient and RTS must be specified.
    4. Close Order: Close the current open offline order.
    5. Fill Basic Info: Fill basic info for the current open offline order.
    6. Add New Team Members (Ex. Physicians): Add new team members such as a new physician while offline.
    7. Fill Data Form: Fill data forms available offline.
    8. Fill Order Form: Fill order forms available offline.
    9. Fix Form Not Found Error: If you are in offline mode when connected to the internet, an error is given when opening a data or order form. If you are connected to the internet, use RxWeb online, synch the offline changes, then fill out the form while online.
  3. Returning To Online:
    1. Allow Updating Server With Offline Changes (Synching): When an internet connection is available, use RxWeb online, log in, then follow the instructions to complete the synch of the offline changes. After the synch, the offline changes and the selected orders offline are cleared.
    2. Remove Offline Feature And Data: The offline feature has 3 basic components, use of the feature (service worker), required data (local encrypted database and files of selected orders, selected forms, patients, physicians, ICD10 codes, etc.), and data changes (changes made while offline). Each of the 3 basic offline components can be deleted separately but must be done in a specific order. Data changes must not exist when deleting required data and required data must not exist when deleting use of the feature.
    3. Resolve Synching Issues: To resolve any synching issues, ARTSCO may request a file of all offline changes. This file is generated by clicking Options, General then clicking the 'Export Offline Changes' (floppy disk with right arrow icon) button. After resolving the issue, ARTSCO may send a file to fix the issue. If this were the case, click Options, General then clicking the 'Import Offline Changes' (floppy disk with left arrow icon) button and follow instructions to import the file.
